I'm still here... And a Blog Award.

I know it seems as if I dropped off the planet, but I'm still here. I just haven't been very talkative or inclined to stitch since my last post.

Alberta, thank you for the Kreativ Blogger Award. This little award made my day. I'm sorry that it's taken so long for me to post it.

Now I get to pass the award on to 8 more bloggers.

Thankfully I'm getting back my urge to stitch, and since I'm without a job again, I'll have the time as well.

Feeling crappy, but stitching anyway

My sore throat started Saturday night. I missed church and had Monday off. The sore throat is still here, along with a cough and sinus congestion.

Now, after all that information you didn't want to know, here's the stitching. LOL

Wednesdays this month I'm stitching on Mirabilia's Winter Queen.
This is how far I got last Wednesday.

March 11, 2009

And this is how far I got this Wednesday.

March 18, 2009

I'm almost half done Shannon's pumpkin. I hope she likes it. The flossies came at the beginning of the week. When I'm done the pumpkin I'll stitch the March biscornu, then Melinda's halloween block.
This weekend I'll have my partner info for Spring Round on Fair & Square so next week will be deciding what to stitch.

The Sisterhood is ready to travel

Carol has finished stitching and is ready to send The Sisterhood to her next destination.

She's done a wonderful job stitching, and has added a creative story too.

Mirabilia March

It's Mirabilia March over on The Wagon. My goal is to stitch on Winter Queen ever week. The best day for me to do that is Wednesdays. I have that day off and don't have any commitments for that day other than Kids 4 Christ which is after supper.

This is what WQ looked like when I pulled her out of the drawer. The colour isn't right, the colours I stitched there are white and 341.

"Winter Queen" by Mirabilia

I only got started after lunch and a little bit more after K4C. But this is the progress I've made so far.

Progress on March 11th, 2009

I'm hoping that I can get more stitching accomplished each week over the previous week. Meaning I hope I get up earlier, get my morning "routine" done earlier, so I can sit down and stitch earlier. :P

Today I'm going to start my March Biscornu. I'll work on that until the weekend then switch back to Dixie. Hopefully my flossies come in soon, then I'll get Shannon's pumpkin RR stitched. Then I can stitch on Melinda's Halloween RR when it arrives. Melinda's will be the last installment in the Open Theme RR and I'll have my Cats back. Yay! hee

Looks like I've created a rotation without even realizing it. Lets see if I can stick to it. ;)

Progress on Dixie

I was able to get some stitching done this weekend.
Saturday I stitched on Dixie and finished her belly. Now it's just the rest of her neck, the big wing and her head.

Dixie as of March 8th, 2009

Then I moved on to Melons by Pam Kellogg. I'm almost done, just have to connect the border, stitch the words and do the backstitching.
I'm hoping to finish it tonight.

Tomorrow I'll stitch on Mirabilia's Winter Queen. Hopefully I'll get enough stitched for a piccie.

Stitchy Weekend

At least, I hope it will be.

I finished the February Biscornu for the Basket of Biscornu Challenge.

It's a freebie from http://sablaise.over-blog.com. It's stitched with GAST Cherry Wine on white linen. I found the buttons at Frenchy's and had the beads in my stash.

February Biscornu

The squares I stitched for Fair & Square Round 11 arrived save and sound. My partner's favourite colour is purple so I switched out the blues.

Farm Fresh Apples in the Oct 92 issue of Cross Country Stitching

Hopefully I'll put a good dent into Dixie this weekend. In March I'll have a couple of squares for the Open Theme RR to stitch, along with the March Biscornu which I've already designed, and it's MiraMarch on The Wagon, so I'll pull Winter Queen out of the cupboard.

Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life

I've joined the Relay.

The Youth/Music Pastor at the Digby Wesleyan Church registered a team (The Wesleyan Warriors) to run in Digby's Relay For Life in June. I've joined that team. DH has joined as well.

So this is my official post to ask for pledges for this wonderful cause. Just go to Claire's Relay For Life Pledge Page to make your donation.

And not to worry, DH and I will have our cameras there to take plenty of pictures which I'll post after the relay.

Harry Potter is coming...

Got the blahs.

I seem to have the blahs this month. I haven't really wanted to do much of anything except watch/listen to tv and stitch. But I have to do things like go to work and grocery shopping.

I've finished and mailed my sets of squares for Round 11 and Round Winter for Fair & Square. I'll post piccies when they are recieved.

I have recieved both sets of squares from the above rounds for Fair & Square.

Round 11 squares from Darla L.

Winter Round squares from Melissa P.

Aren't they great? Right now I have no idea what to finish them into, but when I do I'll post piccies.

I've finished the frog for Rebekah's RR and I'll have that in the mail on Monday.

"Hear no evil" from Tree Frog Trio by Dimensions

I'm just waiting on a parcel from Needlecraft Corner with some flossies and I'll stitch up my February Biscornu.

That will take care of all outside obligation stitching for a few weeks so maybe I can get some stitching done on Dixie. My plan is to have her finished by DH's birthday in May. I'll have to concentrate on it through March and April if I'm to actually finish it. It's hard to believe that I put the first stitches in Dec 1997. Dixie's over 11 yrs old and DH is impatient to get her on the wall.

The SISTERHOOD is on the move again. Visit Kathy's blog to see her version and add your name to the list.

Drum roll please...

And the winner is...

KATHY A

Congratulations Kathy on becoming the newest member of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pattern.

I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time stitching her.

Thanks to Random.org for making what would have been a hard decision easy.

First EVER Biscornu

I'm so happy that I joined the Basket of Biscornu Challenge.

Late last night I finish-finished my very first Biscornu for the first month of the challenge. The plan is to finish a biscornu each month. To that end, I'm stitching the number of each one on the back. The first one is 1 / 12, one of twelve.

January Biscornu

If I remember where the pattern came from, I'll post it here. I just remember that I found it online.

Also, a reminder that tonight at midnight is the deadline to post a comment to my Finished Sisterhood post if you want to be included in the draw. Hopefully, she'll be heading to a new destination in tomorrow's post.

The Sisterhood is ready to move on.

I have finished stitching the Sisterhood, Waxing Moon Designs #119.
It is time for her to find a new sister to comfort for a while.
If you are interested in stitching her, please leave a comment with this post.
I will accept entries until midnight on Jan 27th. I will announce the winner on Jan 28th and hopefully have her in the mail that day.

Waxing Moon Designs # 119 "My Needle and My Floss"

I stitched her on 28 ct Lugana from Sparklies called "Slightly Spring" with DMC Floss.

This is the path she has taken in her journey. Won't you be a part of it?

Who am I?

The Pastor's sermon today was about who we are. Not our name, but what actually defines each of us as a person. So here's my list.

I am...
a Christian
a Wife
a Mother (to my furbabies)
a Daughter
a Sister
an Aunt
a Cousin
a Friend
an Employee

Who are you?

I am stitching, honest.

I've finished the square for Debbi's RR. I'll sign it tonight and it will be ready for mailing on the 26th.

Easter Lily

I'm almost finished My Needle and My Floss. When she's done, I'll post for her next destination and share a pic. I just have to stitch the white and do the back stitching and she'll be done, should be this weekend.

I started my biscornu for the Basket of Biscornu challenge. I was stitching a celtic knot. I figured the best way to stitch the knot was to follow all the way around the know with the first row of stitches, there are 4 rows in 2 colours. I got 1/8 of the way around the 2nd row and discovered a miscount from the 1st row. I'm currently looking for a smaller, easier pattern to stitch for my first biscornu.

Start and end of Celtic Knot Biscornu

I've picked my square for Round 11 on Fair & Square. I'll change the blues in the pattern to purples since my partner's favourite colour is purple.

Then I've just got to decide on which snowflake I love the best to stitch for the Winter Round. There are so many to choose from. I also feel the need to add some blending filiment to make it sparkle. hee

I've picked up a kit of 3 frog that DH really loves so I'll stitch that for him, but I'll use the pattern of one of the frogs for the next square of the Open Theme RR since Rebekah's RR is all frogs. hee They are so cute.

The source for "Let it Snow" that I stitched for Jenn F is from the Seasons Motif Library in "Quick & Clever Cross Stitch" by Helen Philipps. She's had some inquiries about the square which I think she did a wonderful job finishing into an ornament. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the squares she sent me finished into an ornament. At least that's the plan, along with finishing Sisterhood.

Fair & Square Christmas Round 2008 to Jenn F.

Fair & Square Christmas Round 2008 from Jenn F.

I think this coming Wednesday is going to be spent organizing all my WIP. Finding the working copies, the fabbies and seeing what I'm now missing for flossies. I don't have even half of a full set of DMC so I have to pilfer from one project to the next except for a couple projects that were given to me fully kitted up. When someone spends their own money on supplies for a project then those supplies will first be used to finish that project.

Well, lunch is over, time to get back to work. I've still got the whole afternoon left to convince people to come in and pay out their overdue loans. It's not easy on a slow, cold day like today.

And so it begins.

This is the year that I finally actually do something about my weight.

My DH is scared he'll lose me because I'm not healthy. Not to worry, I want to do this for myself as well. I've picked up a supplement. We've got to move the elliptical trainer back out into the open. I'm going to be more conscious of what/how much I'm eating.

So, the number. I don't really want to post this but I figure, in for a penny in for a pound. hee

Today, January 7th, 2009 I weight 233lbs.
Yes, I've taken the measurements of various body parts, but I'm not posting those as well. You'll just have to be happy with what I've given you. :P

I can't believe I didn't take a single picture over the holiday. Oh wait, I lied, I took a picture of the toy we bought Rudy for Christmas. It's a squeaky toy shaped like a motorcycle engine and sounds like an engine when you squeeze it. I took video of the sound too. I have to remember to load them into photobucket later.

Mia is scheduled for neutering on the 14th. I'm just praying that he doesn't start spraying before I get him to the vet. I really don't want to deal with that.

On a happier note, I've almost finished my square on Debbi's RR. It's part of a bigger piece and I changed the colours because I couldn't find what I was looking for. I hope Debbi likes it.

I've started the Sisterhood piece. I'll get back to her after I'm done Debbi's RR. Then I've got to start Hummingbird Heart. I also need to get back to Dixie, I need to finish her before May.

I wonder if I can spend the afternoon stitching? ~hmm~
