My goal is to stitch on Winter Queen ever week. The best day for me to do that is Wednesdays. I have that day off and don't have any commitments for that day other than Kids 4 Christ which is after supper.

This is what WQ looked like when I pulled her out of the drawer. I'll work on that until the weekend then switch back to Dixie. Hopefully my flossies come in soon, then I'll get Shannon's pumpkin RR stitched. When she's done, I'll post for her next destination and share a pic. I just have to stitch the white and do the back stitching and she'll be done, should be this weekend.

I started my biscornu for the Basket of Biscornu challenge. I was stitching a celtic knot. I figured the best way to stitch the knot was to follow all the way around the know with the first row of stitches, there are 4 rows in 2 colours. I got 1/8 of the way around the 2nd row and discovered a miscount from the 1st row. I'm currently looking for a smaller, easier pattern to stitch for my first biscornu. <img style="float:left; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 15px; height: 15px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhezKwnj4PRcz-rk-TA1fcdsSIugrhyphenhyphenh58K88B8vpGgfHng5j9gpW7KEhsNOmjXFo8noGR7cVkfD3HoETy8IDNLnGEVxoGI6TmvtkqKKjzbK5UJlEM9BafNL2ID325ecbrz4_njqjAE7QQa/s320/irked.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5292298072762555634" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 310px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiklpxOA7lZ1tJsmtKmzxeW69RvMDv4GXRloLFe92OqWh-MtxYRX9ClJg4duHrfMDY_zv026-_-2XxRijiCG4cxNZMNy0wrT63X7NOUnrL5NzV3-gDephXHInji_WHnTD7_0FjvjbWb4osl/s320/Celtic+Biscornu.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5292473119200595730" />
Start and end of Celtic Knot Biscornu

I've picked my square for Round 11 on Fair & Square. I'll change the blues in the pattern to purples since my partner's favourite colour is purple.

Then I've just got to decide on which snowflake I love the best to stitch for the Winter Round. There are so many to choose from. I also feel the need to add some blending filiment to make it sparkle. hee

I've picked up a kit of 3 frog that DH really loves so I'll stitch that for him, but I'll use the pattern of one of the frogs for the next square of the Open Theme RR since Rebekah's RR is all frogs. hee They are so cute.

The source for "Let it Snow" that I stitched for Jenn F is from the Seasons Motif Library in "Quick & Clever Cross Stitch" by Helen Philipps. She's had some inquiries about the square which I think she did a wonderful job finishing into an ornament. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the squares she sent me finished into an ornament. Finding the working copies, the fabbies and seeing what I'm now missing for flossies. I don't have even half of a full set of DMC so I have to pilfer from one project to the next except for a couple projects that were given to me fully kitted up. When someone spends their own money on supplies for a project then those supplies will first be used to finish that project.

Well, lunch is over, time to get back to work. I've still got the whole afternoon left to convince people to come in and pay out their overdue loans. It's not easy on a slow, cold day like today.Clairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05483118357567765951noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7331706800217181069.post-6450586248825692342009-01-07T11:31:00.002-04:002009-01-07T11:46:34.674-04:00And so it begins.This is the year that I finally actually do something about my weight.

My DH is scared he'll lose me because I'm not healthy. Not to worry, I want to do this for myself as well. I've picked up a supplement. We've got to move the elliptical trainer back out into the open. I'm going to be more conscious of what/how much I'm eating.

So, the number. I don't really want to post this but I figure, in for a penny in for a pound. hee

Today, January 7th, 2009 I weight 233lbs.
Yes, I've taken the measurements of various body parts, but I'm not posting those as well. You'll just have to be happy with what I've given you. :P

I can't believe I didn't take a single picture over the holiday. Oh wait, I lied, I took a picture of the toy we bought Rudy for Christmas. It's a squeaky toy shaped like a motorcycle engine and sounds like an engine when you squeeze it. I took video of the sound too. I have to remember to load them into photobucket later.

Mia is scheduled for neutering on the 14th. I'm just praying that he doesn't start spraying before I get him to the vet. I really don't want to deal with that.

On a happier note, I've almost finished my square on Debbi's RR. It's part of a bigger piece and I changed the colours because I couldn't find what I was looking for. I hope Debbi likes it.

I've started the Sisterhood piece. I'll get back to her after I'm done Debbi's RR. Then I've got to start Hummingbird Heart. I also need to get back to Dixie, I need to finish her before May.

I wonder if I can spend the afternoon stitching? ~hmm~Clairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05483118357567765951noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7331706800217181069.post-34495657153091859222008-12-25T00:01:00.001-04:002008-12-25T00:01:00.637-04:00Merry Christmas!A Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Everyone.
Please take care while travelling.

God Bless.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 142px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVzGySblWRlpOupu9ie0KU2ZeEuVqHGD3qT5xOvwV62Fb35QkHss_JZL4pxazzcb18nt-RyfIcjgoQu-CUjLAsAy4lc2rj8YQhGRYXoLXWtr6-RD2vt9ML_Y74ULIZJcw1AY_EEBX27OSR/s320/The_Nativity.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5283438231090503378" />Clairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05483118357567765951noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7331706800217181069.post-52824720018565943222008-12-20T15:19:00.004-04:002008-12-20T15:39:39.707-04:00Lots of stuff.Well, Christmas On Victoria Street went well. We had lots of fun and the choir and cast did a wonderful job. (even if I do say so myself, lol) 16 people gave up their lives to Jesus that weekend, that we know about.

The hustle and bustle of choir is over, and Kids 4 Christ is over until 2009, and now it's just the yearly scramble to get everything ready for Christmas. I'm almost done. I just need to wrap presents and do the baking.

I had a visit from some frogs the other night.<img style="float:left; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 15px; height: 15px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp1T6Vr1dt1mTyhdSkFw_W14HnxsIZz3QNbPOW2juUJ7Q8J_kM6257RkqrrtfOfB9M6VQMcXnNuO_eFzMEJ5R2nGxezwvs5cOtPmo55cFc8GSQvc58TE1bzS777a0xPXqBeDobJtgwu5on/s320/frog1.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281956049311359490" />

It turns out that I had mis-counted the threads between the Spring Tree and the Winter Tree on my not-so-soon-to-be needlebook. I had the Winter Tree all stitched when I realized the mistake. So out it came. I've put it way until after Christmas now and I think I'll start "My Needle & My Thread" tonight after supper. I've been looking forward to stitching her and I have all the stash to stitch her.

The sky can't make up it's mind today whether it's going to snow or not. One minute there are just some fluffy flakes floating around and the next minute it's coming down like there's no tomorrow. I love the look of snow on the grass and trees, but come on and make a decision.

Work is going really well. I enjoy my job and the ladies I work with. AND, it looks like I'll be getting bennies in February even though I'm still only part-time.<img style="float:left; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 25px; height: 18px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ5mgFrbJ79R5YflEvvLIf7jpeZbLbsXxQCbr1gswEgwnkFe5l3E60rK4xB6v5Fra8WfvqiddvNukgSeq9EvhKOYDeb1a_C72Bc2iqVTCKcZZX_iFZAlFiuj7cZXcVopdgikbJLaDL2cpH/s320/applause.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281958513449294322" />

I'm hoping to make gumdrops tomorrow after church. Well, except for an ornament ball but that was just lots of pins and squares of printed fabric.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 176px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjf5WDZ_t6tnNjvrL8NtswDgCyVSuwx34KupkRKW6RWIi9tEOnF7Xz9a5EfYENKvmH2-ulPmtNCi5Qsr87jWcadfl3waW-XyrlGezNvJMUQ-J9gev5KKzoRBUDj0EDbo58gpcc5M4jsizSP/s320/NeedleBook.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5276387007097268386" />
Spring Tree is almost finished, Summer Tree is finished.

I'll stitch the Winter Tree after the Spring Tree and the Autumn Tree last.
I'm just not sure how I'm going to secure it since the Summer and Autumn trees will be folded inside.

On another happy note, my DH is amazed that I can create what I do from a chart. hee

I've also got to get the Sisterhood piece started since the floss and fabbie arrived last week. And then there's the Anniversary piece that I want to stitch for DH and myself. I've got all the supplies for that now and need to get started on it.

I'll post progress pics of the Anniversary piece, but the Sisterhood piece won't get posted until it's done.Clairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05483118357567765951noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7331706800217181069.post-51611810070828827402008-11-27T10:50:00.004-04:002008-11-27T11:24:57.757-04:00I've been tagged.I got tagged by Abi. I’ll play :)

Here are the tag rules:
Rule #1 ~ Link to the person that tagged you.
Rule #2 ~ Post the rules on your Blog.
Rule #3 ~ Write 6 random things about yourself.
Rule #4 ~ Tag 6 people at the end of your post.
Rule #5 ~ Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their Blog.
Rule #6 ~ Let the tagger know your entry is up.

Here are my six random things:

#1. I'm a sucker for a romance novel. I get so into a book that I can block out the tv or someone talking to me. hee One of my favourite authors is Nora Roberts.

#2. I gave up coffee in May of 2004. I love the smell of coffee and miss the taste of it. *sigh*

#3. I can draw a floor plan in my head and "walk" through it. I can also translate that plan to paper.

#4. I'm a lazy sod. lol And a procrastinator. If I can put something off until later I'll do that. I could sleep all day and read or stitch all night if I was allowed.

#5. I don't wear make-up and I have no clue how to use a curling iron. I "think" I'm using the hair dryer properly, but I'm not sure. :s

#6. I lived in Toronto for 2 months when I was 19. I still miss the subway.

I will tag:
1. Lindsay
2. Annette
3. Whiz
4. Rebekah
5. Rachel
6. AmandaClairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05483118357567765951noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7331706800217181069.post-56879593705039859862008-11-23T20:39:00.002-04:002008-11-23T20:45:56.080-04:00Mmm... Food.Tonight was the Second Annual Christmas Dessert Recipe Exchange at the church.
Who ever wants to come brings a dessert. Either something they've never made before, or something that they always make at Christmas. If they want to, they can submit the recipe for the dessert that they've brought and can sign up to receive a recipe book of all the recipes submitted.

Last year I made Gingerbread Truffles. This year I made Holly Wreaths.
I forgot to get a picture of the Holly Wreaths and I wasn't blogging last year to even think about taking a picture of the Truffles. I can get a picture of the Holly Wreaths tomorrow when I pick my tin up from the church. (I left early and didn't want to take the cookies away)

I'll be making truffles again this year and will take pictures of all the flavours I make. I'll try to take pictures of each stage and blog about it seperately.

I ate too much stuff. heeClairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05483118357567765951noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7331706800217181069.post-2688456617631784572008-11-20T17:15:00.004-04:002008-11-27T12:24:41.850-04:00Stitching & StuffI can't add pictures yet, but I've finished and mailed my first squares to Jenn for the Fair and Square exchange. Not to worry, I will post piccies once Jenn receives her exchange. :P

*hmm* Which round to sign up for next? hee

I've gotten a few bits of stash, patterns by Little House Needleworks. And I'm expecting some more stash from 123 Stitch that will include a pattern from Elizabeth's Designs. I love the houses and cottages from both of these designers and I can't wait to stitch them.

The stash coming is the flossies for the Sisterhood chart I mentioned in my last post. My fabbie is coming from Sparklies in the UK. This is the first time I've ordered from the company, but I enjoy chatting with her on the cross stitch message boards. She's been a pleasure to order from, absolutely keeps me in the loop of what's going on with my order.

I've received my order from Fire Mountain Gems. Now I can get some jewelry made that's been ordered for Christmas gifts.

The set will look similar to the set I made to donate to our Home Hardware Ladies Night benefitting Canadian Breast Cancer Society. Except the pick stones will be darker. The single necklace will be silver, black, and grey and suitable for a guy.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 192px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfJyfr2zfgfK3CMwGIzCBTlujXSQUX2Yaivccd7ndmXII9bLiQMX5I0EQlEkf3Dmou0s_qAu44rjEfrhgqb7TBweq6TpooV8Gn8OLEgjIz_DYTBDKWkq6T3Hg01f_a4gfE5Rxl74RWztdh/s320/Breast+Cancer+Donation.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5273373702597639170" />
Necklace, bracelet and earrings. Thankfully I have Saturday off so DH and I will be driving up the Valley for the last Farmer's Market shopping spree. This should hold us over until spring hopefully. Of course we'll take our cameras, if I have any good shots I'll post them.

On the stitching front, I'm almost finished my Christmas Tree for the Open Theme Round Robin. I'll post a pic when it's finished.

Last night and this morning I quickly stitched up this cute little jack o'lantern.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 274px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggnlCzM951iWxbDpfIzaCAGfOpfCivR07CNewVizr2HY1JqHgu3jqc1jnSa4rcDitMSe83c7r3QN2e51Zxe30V7wtwXx1S_5rfU55Q44vd9VSBaXdsJeOKNbHCgpRdhgaXxHdjle3VKG-W/s320/jackOlantern.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5263499590421370706" />
Jack O'lantern by Tor Rhuann Designs

He's a little freebie by Tor Rhuann Designs.
